Biographical or historical data
Fabrizia Baduel Glorioso graduated with a law degree in 1953 from the University of Perugia. From 1952 to 1965 she was member of the Office for education and training of the Italian Confederation of Workers of the CISL Trade Union and then head of the Office for International Relations of the CISL. She served as an executive member of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (CISL/ICFTU), of the Executive Committee of the World Conference of Employment which had its origins in the International Labour Organisation (ILO). She also acted as representative of various committees of the EEC, the OEEC / OECD, and in the annual conferences organized by the ILO from 1959 to 1978. She actively participated in the creation of the European Trade Union Confederation (CES / ETUC) and in the entry of the Confederazione Generale Italiana dei Lavoratori (CGIL) in the ETUC. From 1978 to 1979 she was the President of the Economic and Social Committee of the European Communities where she had previously acted as representative of the trade unions from 1970. After the expiry of its mandate, she became member of the European Parliament, a seat she held from 1979 to 1984, after being elected on the Italian Communist Party ticket. A well renowned journalist on Italian and European political and trade union matters; Baduel Gloriso was also a founding member of several organisations: the Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), the Institute for relations between Italy and the countries of Africa, Latin America, Far and Middle East (IPALMO), the Società Italiana per l'Organizzazione Internazionale (SIOI) and the Centro Studi in the lists Politica Internazionale (CESPI)
