- "Ihre Publikation versteht Rebecca Scherf als Beitrag zur Aufarbeitung der Rolle der evangelischen Kirche im Nationalsozialismus. Die Autorin nimmt das Verhältnis der evangelischen Kirche zum nationalsozialistischen Konzentrationslagersystem kritisch in den Blick. Unter der leitenden Fragestellung 'Wie verhielt sich die evangelische Kirche zum KZ-System?' untersucht Scherf die Seelsorgetätigkeit in den Konzentrationslagern, die Gründe für eine KZ-Haft der evangelischen Geistlichen, die kirchlichen Reaktionen auf die Inhaftierungen sowie die Hafterfahrungen der Geistlichen und deren Deutungen. Die Arbeit wurde mit dem Wilhelm Freiherr von Pechmann-Preis 2018 ausgezeichnet."--
