- Information is now considered as a vital resource or input in almost every field of human endeavour. It is continuously being used by people in every walk of life, such as in education and research, in agriculture, in business and industry, in management and again used and the cycle goes on. To profitably utilize the huge quantity of information now being generated, it is necessary to organize all these information efficiently and to disseminate the pertinent information to the users as per their requirements. Elements of Information Organization and Dissemination discusses different activities involved in organization and dissemination of information (IOD). Wherever needed, it suggests the steps required for performing a task related to IOD in a library or information center. It also introduces different kinds of sources, which contain information, and various types of users and their information needs and information seeking behavior. It also highlights the recent trends in the field of IOD. Though the book is specially meant for satisfying the needs of the students pursuing library and information science courses and/or preparing themselves for employment, it will also serve as a useful guide to library/information professionals responsible for IOD work in a library or information centre. --
