Summary
The collection includes a selection of important articles published from 1956 to April 1992. At that date the service was dismantled. The collection is the result of daily briefings and "ad hoc" folders prepared for specific requests from the European Parliament services. It consists of newspaper articles concerning the current European and global activities of the various committees and parliamentary groups, the European Council summits as well as on the political and economic situation of Europe and of the rest of the world

The material has been collected initially by the news agencies of EC member countries, Switzerland and United States. From 1979 to 1992 the press cuttings were produced by the Directorate General for Studies (DG-IV) of the European Parliament which has transferred them to the Historical Archives of the European Union.
Organization method
The press cuttings have been pre-arranged chronologically in Luxembourg. The description follows a method based on a controlled vocabulary according to the Eurovoc thesaurus to highlight the essential political and economic themes, as well as the major personalities and events in European and world politics.
